Our Vision

Alpha Phi Omega’s Alpha Zeta chapter aspires to be the premier service-based leadership development organization at the University of Kentucky.

As a chapter, we endeavor to carry out the three cardinal principles of leadership, friendship, and service in all of our activities in order to promote diversity, inclusivity, brotherhood, and the personal and professional growth of our members. By fostering this welcoming environment, we seek to maintain long-term retention, create opportunities for meaningful interaction, and promote engagement across all levels of membership via all in-person and virtual platforms.

Finally, we strive to leave a positive impact on the campus, in the Lexington community, across the nation, and beyond as both brothers and students by providing meaningful service and building impactful relationships wherever there is a need.

Our Chapter

Alpha Phi Omega is the single most represented co-educational intercollegiate service organization in the United States. Since 1925, over 500,000 members at more than 375 colleges have been serving their chapters, campuses, communities, and the nation. The Alpha Zeta chapter at the University of Kentucky was founded in 1933 and has been bringing members together in leadership, friendship, and service ever since.

Our Cardinal Principles

  • Leadership

Our leadership program aims to grow our brothers as servant leaders, both personally and professionally, within the community and in the fraternity.

  • Friendship

Our fellowship program is designed to develop long-lasting bonds of friendship and brotherhood to carry brothers beyond their years at the University of Kentucky.

  • Service

Our service program works with nearly forty organizations in Lexington to help meet community needs.

What APO Means to Us

“As an out-of-state student, it was important to me to find a family here at the University of Kentucky. I had heard about APO my senior year of high school as I had a friend in APO at UK and heard wonderful things. I [have been] able to grow close and form friendships with two of the pledge classes, attend additional activities, and the continued encouragement I received validated my desire for having a family here. Now, I can confidently say that I have a home at UK, and it is with an amAZing group of brothers!”

— Lauren Sammons

“I joined as a freshman to continue doing service and to meet new people. This chapter has felt like one huge family to me since I joined, and I can’t wait to see how we evolve as a chapter and a family in the future!”

— Courtney Murray

“Before joining APO, I struggled to find ways to get involved with community service, but APO instantly solved that problem. All of a sudden, I was aware of a ton of service opportunities in Lexington that I hadn’t known existed before. Every APO event that I went to, whether it was leadership, fellowship, or service, left me feeling that I had done something truly productive with my day. Being in APO gives me a sense of belonging and encourages me to be a better version of myself.”
